Abstract
The authors have obtained by experimental methods an effective sheer modulus for the sheet in a stiffened plane sheet beam combination under bending loads. For the combinations tested it was found that the modulus decreases rapidly under light loadings from the elastic value to some asymptotic value depending upon the sheet thickness. The thick sheet combination gave higher values of the effective shear modulus than the thin sheet.
