Abstract

The total synthesis of spiro[bis(2,3-diazabicyclo[2.2.1]-hept-2-ene)-7,7’] from trans-1,4-dibromo-2-butene was accomplished. One advantage of this synthetic route is that it can be carried out on a relatively large scale. Another advantage is that the synthesis is flexible. With a few minor modifications, one can generate various C₉H₁₂ spiro ring system derivatives.
