Abstract
NOTE: Text or symbols not renderable in plain ASCII are indicated by [...]. Abstract is included in .pdf document. The fluctuating air loads over the surface of a smooth, cantilevered circular cylinder perpendicular to a flow in the supercritical Reynolds number ranging from [...] to [...] have been investigated according to Gumbel's extreme value theory. The envelope of the extreme values of the pressure was found to be much greater than the static pressure and the root-mean-square values and decreased with increasing Reynolds number. On the other hand, the envelope of the extreme values of the resultant force was generally unrelated with Reynolds number.
