Abstract
NOTE: Text or symbols not renderable in plain ASCII are indicated by [...]. Abstract is included in .pdf document. The relative vibrational transition probabilities of the first four bands in the sequences [...] of the violet CN system [...] have been calculated using the Morse potential function. The same relative vibrational transition probabilities were derived from peak relative intensities of the band heads appearing in the electric furnace emission spectrum under conditions approaching thermodynamic equilibrium. The calculated and measured relative vibrational transition probabilities were compared and shown to agree within the limit of accuracy of the experiment and of the calculations.
