Abstract

NOTE: Text or symbols not renderable in plain ASCII are indicated by [...]. Abstract is included in .pdf document. Approximately forty levels in 37K have been established via the reactions [...]. The analogues in 37K to the first two excited levels in 37Ar were found as a closely spaced doublet at 1368 and 1380 keV excitation energy. The half-life of the latter has been measured electronically to be 9.6 ? 1.4 nanoseconds. Spin and parity assignments have been made to seven of the lowest eight levels in this nucleus and to three higher levels. Approximate values for the elastic and inelastic proton and gamma-ray widths of several levels have been determined. Evidence for the positions and widths of two candidates for the first T = 3/2 level is presented. Calibrations of gamma-ray energies with Ge(Li) counters have made possible the determination of level energies with precisions ranging from one to five keV. The mass excess of the ground state is now known to three keV.
